a visit to Topaz Centre in Wemmel

Topaz centre is a second house for people that are diagnosed with a life-threatening desease. People can spend their day, without appointment, without costs, without a specific program. Necessary medical care is provided by nurses, if needed, as well as psychological help for "end-of-life" issues and other psychological issues. More important is Topaz a place where people can cook or eat together, talk, play or rest whenever they want, something that is needed by them as well as by their families. Topaz is part of to UZ Brussels.

The students visited Topaz on 16 October, a day that the centre was closed, so that the visitors' privacy is not intruded:

one of the ongoing art projects in Topaz centre: the visitors/patients have been photographed with a theme according to what did they wish to be in another life (in the photos above, a piano player and a cat)
